Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I take the course?

Whether you are renewing your commission or qualifying for the first time, after you take our course and get your Proof of Completion, you will have to register to take the exam.  See the Notary Resource page for a link and phone number you can use to find exam times and register.

After I pass the exam, am I a notary public?

The notary course includes instructions on what to expect after you take the exam.  To explain in breif: if you are becoming a notary, after you pass the exam, you will still need to order supplies, get a bond, and file an oath with the County before you can start notarizing documents. See the Notary Resource page for a link to the Secretary of State's website which has more details on each step of the process, as well.

Who can become a notary public in California?

See the Notary Resource page for a link to the California Secretary of State's website. It explains who is eligible to become a notary.

I paid for my course, but I did not get it.

Be sure to check your trash folder. If you still have not received your materials after 24 hours, send an e-mail to aplusnotaryeducators@yahoo.com or send a fax to 619-374-2902. In the event our e-mail to you comes back rejected, we will wait 72 hours to hear from you. If we have not been contacted by you then, we will issue a full refund through PayPal.
Is the notary exam hard?

It is difficult to answer this question because everyone is different. You can expect our notary course to prepare you well for the exam. It is approved by the State of California because it contains all the mandatory material.  There is a sample test at the end of the course. Your performance on that exam will be a good indicator to you of whether you're prepared for the state exam.  Keep studying until you do well on the practice exam and you should be fine.

What happens after I pay for the course?  How will I get the class?

Within 24 hours your exam will be e-mailed to the address you use with PayPal.

Where do I get my notary supplies?

There are lots of places to buy your supplies.  Using a search engine will yield tens of suppliers of notary journals, stamps, acknolwedgments forms, jurats, and seals.

Where do I get my bond?

See the Notary Resource page for our recommended supplier of Notary bonds.  www.simplebond.com

How much money can I make as a notary?

That's up to you.  In theory, your potential is unlimited. In reality, how much you make will depend on your networking and advertising saavy, your willingness to be mobile, and the hours you're available. By law, notaries may not charge more than $10 per notarization.  However, there is no law addressing travel fees.

Your class is so cheap. Does that mean I'm not getting the same information as the more expensive courses?

No. Not at all.  In our experience most people looking to become notaries are seeking to increase their cash flow and become independent.  To reach that market and assist entrepreneurs like ourselves in reaching financial independence, we have lowered our price.  The course you are buying was reviewed by the State's office and meets the mandatory education requirement because it covers all the necessary information.  Further, it is clear, organized, and easy to use.

If I need a copy of my Proof of Completion, will you provide one? If so, for how much?

We are happy to provide you with up to 5 Proofs of Completion free of charge as needed.
